Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz who was born in Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents in honor of the town where she was raised in. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from an ethnically Jewish origin. She is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Her older sibling is Uria. Ryder and her family moved to California's Mendocino County in the year 2000, when Ryder was just seven. The family was in a house that didn't have electric power. Ryder would read extensively due to the absence of television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. Lucas was released in 1986 and Ryder, then just 15 years old, was offered an acting job as a lead actor. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Her thought was that by becoming an actor her behaviour would be changed. Sadly that didn't happen. The actress continued to chase her goals. Ryder made her breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder continued to be successful in her parts in a variety of films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated in the Academy Awards. One of them for her role In The Age of Innocence.
