Heidi

Heidi Klum was conceived in Bergisch Gladbach in Germany in June of 1973. Her mother Erna was a hairdresser. Gunther Klim, her father was the executive of a cosmetics firm. Heidi's father was formerly a Production Manager for the 4711 fragrance company. Heidi was born in Bergisch Gladbach which is a town of 100,000 just six miles to the east of Cologne. German-American former fashion model, TV host, now a businesswoman and designer. Klum's career as a model began in 1992 when she worked as a barmaid at a Dusseldorf club. Karin was a close friend of Klum's at the time (18-year-old) student, encouraged her to enter an German talent contest on TV called Model 92. It was part a Thomas Gottschalk hosted late night talk program. Klum had to compete against 25,000 contestants across Germany as well as Europe prior to being one of the three semifinalists. The winner was awarded $300,000. modeling award in April of 1992.
